Certified ESMT & CSMT- Equine & Canine Sports Massage Therapist

I have a certification in sports massage, but I have taken courses in neuro-myofascial techniques, acupressure, kinesiology taping, and photonic health, and I typically use a nice blend in each session.

I volunteer at Hope for Horses Equine Rescue giving my time and skill to assist in the rehabilitation and maintenance of several residents.

About Tricia Axtell

What really sets Rejuvenate apart is Tricia's willingness and eagerness to learn, ask questions, and stay curious. She enjoys helping owners problem solve and she supports her clients in a multitude of ways. She has helped owners problem solve management and stabling challenges and she has supported rehabilitation and re-introduction to work efforts.

As an 18 year veteran educator,  she believes in the power of a solid education, and thus she is constantly seeking to learn more and to learn from the very best. In addition, she enjoys educating her clients. During and after each session, she offers to share bodywork techniques that clients can use to extend the life of the session and further help their animal. She enjoys  exploring corrective exercises and troubleshooting potential pitfalls in programs.

Tricia Axtell is a certified and insured equine/canine bodyworker serving Western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina, and east Tennessee. Further travel is in the works, so please reach out for more information. She has multiple certifications including equine and canine sports massage from Equissage International in Round Hill, VA, the first established school in the US for Equine and Canine Massage. She is also certified in Myofascial Release from Dr. Angelique Barber, DVM. She received her Reiki Master from Mending Hands, and spent more than 550 hours in human massage school. In addition, she has certifications in red light therapy and kinesiology taping.

In 2022, however, she truly took her work to the next level when she certified in sports therapy and the Wilson-Meagher Method with Jo-Ann Wilson.

Jo-Ann Wilson serves as physio to the US Eventing team, and she has served on many Olympic, Pan Am, and World Equestrian teams. She writes regularly for Practical Horseman and Chronicle of the Horse, and she has spoken at the USEA Annual Meeting and Convention. She apprenticed with and spent many years working alongside Jack Meagher, the therapist whose work dates back to Jack LeGoff's three-day team back in the 1970's. Through her course, and because of Tricia's personal experience in the industry, she has developed a strong and thorough understanding of equine biomechanics. Tricia has been riding for 48 years and has been fortunate enough to ride for years with top trainers in hunter/jumpers and dressage.

In addition, Tricia worked for 18 years as a school teacher in North Carolina, so teaching is a big part of who she is. She enjoys sparking curiosity about this work and then suggesting “homework” that owners can apply to extend the session. Please reach out anytime to discuss or to ask any questions!
